VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION
"You must become the
change you wish to see in the world."
~Ghandi
The
first step to becoming a volunteer with Whitman-Walker Clinic
is to attend a VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION (VO) session. These
sessions occur once a month. At VO, the Volunteer Resources
(VR) staff provides prospective volunteers with an overview
of WWC (it's history, programs/services) and volunteer policies.
Plus, prospective volunteers will hear from staff members
who supervise volunteers, learn about our current opportunities,
fill out our volunteer application and be able to ask questions.
LOCATION: 1407 S Street, N.W.
Time: 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
PARKING/METRO: On-street parking
is readily available. We’re just four blocks away
from the U
Street/African-American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo Metro
station on the Green line (exit at 13th/U Streets, walk
one block west to 14th Street, then down three blocks to
S Street).
No RSVP is needed. Please
check our Calendar
for the next VO date.
Due to building security requirements, you must arrive by 6:30 pm to attend VO. If you are late, you will likely not be able to enter the building.
To find out what our volunteer needs are, please check out
our current opportunities list. Please note the location, hours and qualifications
of the positions. Non-clinical direct client service and
program/administrative support positions are open to the
general public. ALL clinical positions, however, require
FULL licensure. Limited numbers of clinical internships
are available through the appropriate department (medical,
mental health, etc.). Non-clinical internships (program
support/operations) are also available and those who are
interested can view a list of current
internships. NOTE: It's best to check with
us at the beginning of the same month of the VO you'll be
attending. These listings are updated monthly; positions
change from month-to-month.
Thanks very much for your
interest in becoming a volunteer with Whitman-Walker Clinic!
We truly depend on the skills, time, talents and hard work
of our volunteers to help us in this vital work. We appreciate
your interest in joining our WWC volunteer community and
look forward to meeting you at VO!
