SMART PROGRAM

The SMART (Suburban Maryland AIDS Reduction Team) program is a five-year, CDC-funded cooperative agreement promoting HIV/AIDS prevention in Suburban Maryland (Prince George's and Montgomery Counties). SMART specifically targets African-Americans. However, services are available to all Suburban Maryland populations.

SMART services include street and community outreach, anonymous and confidential HIV counseling and testing, prevention workshops, individual HIV risk reduction counseling, peer educator training and a speaker's bureau. Appointments are not necessary for HIV testing.

The SMART program is located at the Holy Redeemer Metropolitan Community Church at 4907 Niagara Rd., Suite 102, in College Park, MD, every Wednesday from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. Please call (240) 491-6021 for more information.

The principal SMART staff members are:

- Reggie Watson, program manager.

- Aly Villagomez, HIV counselor.

- Preston James, prevention specialist.

- Lisa Connors, senior health educator
