REACHING
OUT TO YOU
Outreach is a vital part of Whitman-Walker's
services. Many potential clients do not have access to adequate
health care or may feel reluctant to visit a widely known
HIV/AIDS or GLBT health clinic.
That is why, in addition to our three Regional
Centers, we have established a number of programs and services
to reach our constituents.
The SMART
Program is a CDC-funded, cooperative agreement to
provide HIV/AIDS Prevention in Suburban Maryland, specifically
targeting African- Americans in Prince George's and Montgomery
Counties. Services available to all populations include street
and community outreach, HIV counseling and testing, prevention
workshops, individual HIV risk reduction counseling, peer
education training, support groups, and a speaker's bureau.
Our Advocacy
area provides visitors with information on contacting elected
officals in the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland
and encouraging them to support Whitman-Walker, HIV/AIDS funding
and GLBT equality.
We also provide Links
to a number of HIV/AIDS and GLBT related sites.
