WHITMAN-WALKER CLINIC TO HOST
GW MAMMOVAN

Van Will Provide Mammograms to Clinic Patients July 7 and
August 5

WASHINGTON – Whitman-Walker Clinic will host the GW MammoVan to provide mammograms to Clinic patients on:

  • Tuesday, July 7, 9:15 am-3:30 pm at Elizabeth Taylor Medical Center, 1701 14th St., NW.
  • Thursday, Aug. 6, 9:15 am-3:30 pm at Max Robinson Center, 2301 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., SE.

"Whitman-Walker's Breast Health Initiative partnered with the GW MammoVan to bring mammogram services to our patients, most of whom are medically underserved, particularly in areas like breast cancer screening" said Raymond Martins, Chief Medical Offier at Whitman-Walker Clinic. "Although BHI's services are open to any woman, we do focus on caring for lesbians, bisexual women and transgender men and women."

Patients who are eligible for the MammoVan are those who:

  • Are over age 40
  • Have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months
  • Do not have symptoms such as breast pain or a lump
  • Do not have breast implants
  • Have not been treated previously for breast cancer
  • Have a primary care physiciaL

The MammoVan accepts some private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. Patients whose income is 200 percent of the poverty level qualify for free mammograms.

Whitman-Walker's Breast Health Initiative offers access to mammography, clinical breast exams and breast self-exam education. BHI helps women with breast health/chest health concerns navigate the health care system.
