WHITMAN-WALKER CLINIC ISSUES REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR CAPITAL PRIDE

Organizations Interested in Taking on Lead Organizing Role Can Submit Proposals until Jan. 25

WASHINGTON - Whitman-Walker Clinic has issued a Request for Proposals from organizations who are interested in taking on the lead organizing role for Capital Pride. Proposals are due by 5:00 pm on Friday, Jan. 25.

Guidelines for proposals can be found at www.wwc.org/cpproposals. Any questions about the process should be e-mailed to ReGina Newkirk, Director of Development for Whitman-Walker Clinic, at rnewkirk@wwc.org no later than 5:00 pm, Thursday, Jan. 10.

“Whitman-Walker Clinic is committed to promoting and protecting the health of the GLBT community,” said Donald Blanchon, Chief Executive Officer for Whitman-Walker Clinic. “While we have been honored to be a presenter of Capital Pride for a decade, Capital Pride does not align with our current focus of providing quality health care. We believe that there are other organizations for whom the lead organizing role would be a good fit. This process will help us find the organization that can take Capital Pride into the future.”

“Whitman-Walker Clinic is committed to a successful transition of the lead role on Capital Pride to another organization,” said Blanchon. “This RFP process was started to ensure that this process will go smoothly. We encourage any organization who may be interested to enter this process.”

Established in 1973, Whitman-Walker Clinic is a non-profit, community-based provider of health care and social services in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Through sites in the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia, the Clinic offers primary medical and dental care; mental health and addictions counseling and treatment; HIV education, prevention and testing; legal services; case management; and a food bank. Whitman-Walker Clinic is committed to meeting the life needs of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community and people living with HIV/AIDS.
