LEGAL SERVICES

AIDS Walk Washington was a huge success! Check our our law firm and other supporters of this important and imspirational event!

Legal Assistance for People Living with HIV/AIDS

Virtually everyone living with HIV/AIDS encounters legal problems associated with his or her health status. Many HIV-positive people cannot afford the representation they need to fight for their rights to continue working, maintain access to health care, or ensure their confidentiality. Founded in 1986, the legal services program of Whitman-Walker Clinic is the only Washington, DC, area program offering a wide range of pro bono legal services specifically for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Legal Assistance on LGBT Health-Related Legal Issues

Because of Whitman-Walker’s special mission to the LGBT community, Whitman-Walker now offers pro bono assistance to HIV-negative individuals and to those living with HIV/AIDS on a number of legal matters that are important to GLBT health, including discrimination, access to health care, planning for the future, and immigration.

If you have an HIV-related legal problem, or you are a client of any Whitman-Walker Clinic program, and are a resident of the Washington, DC, metropolitan area, call Whitman-Walker Clinic Legal Services at 202-939-7627 on weekdays between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. Our intake coordinator will conduct a telephone interview and our attorneys will review your case to determine how we can assist you.  Please see the section on Client Services for more information about the legal services we provide.
