Confidential support group for gay men over 50 (or soon to be 50) seeking to sustain their quality of life and sense of purpose as they enter this new phase. Registration is required.

8-week confidential discussion group for people who have had someone close to them come out. Group focus is on healing bonds and education about the coming out process. Registration is required.

Coming Out of Marriage – Women

Confidential support group for women who are, or have been, married to men and may be contemplating or are in relationships with women. Registration is required.

HIV/AIDS - Newly Diagnosed

Group 1, Mondays, 7:00 pm; Group 2, Wednesdays, 7:00 pm; Group 3, Tuesdays, 5:30 pm (in Arlington, VA). Donations accepted.
This group is for anyone who has been recently diagnosed with HIV. It is open to all genders and orientations. Registration is required.

HIV/AIDS - Positive Women's Support Group

Ongoing psychotherapy group that involves psychosocial and education for gender queers aged 18-25 who are experiencing some conflict/ambiguity around gender identity and sexual orientation. An initial screening appointment is necessary for admission.

This group is designed to provide a safe environment for transgender persons to explore the bio/psycho/social issues related to gender transition. An initial screening appointment is necessary for admission.

Sexual Compulsion Group for Gay Men

Social Anxiety Group NEW GROUP – CURRENTLY FORMING

This is a new group for persons who deal with social anxiety and general anxiety disorders. The group will help clients deal with the impact of anxiety on their lives as well as provide strategies to deal with social anxiety and improve functioning in their relationships. Group members must make a commitment to a minimum of 15 sessions. An initial screening appointment is necessary for admission..

Psychotherapy Group for Men with Depression and other Mood Disorders

This psychotherapy group is open to men who are experiencing symptoms of major depression, dysthymia, bipolar disorders, or adjustment disorders. This group teaches coping strategies and life skills for people with mood disorders. Group members must make a commitment to a minimum of 12 sessions. Long Time Survivors of HIV/AIDS - Men

This group is designed for men who have live with HIV for more than 10 years. The group addresses issues that impact long time survivors of HIV and helps members improve the quality of their lives. Group members must make a commitment to a minimum of 12 sessions. An initial screening appointment is necessary for admission.

HIV & Depression - "Positive Coping"

Dealing with HIV Diagnosis NEW GROUP

This group is designed for any person ready to deal with the diagnosis of being HIV whether you are newly diagnosed or have lived with HIV for many years. The group will address issues related to living with HIV, learn strategies to cope and improve the quality of life living with HIV. Group members must make a commitment to a minimum of 15 sessions. - An initial screening appointment is necessary for admission.

Group Type: Psychotherapy ~ Substance Abuse

WWAS - Intensive Primary Recovery.

Members meet for a minimum of eight weeks, three nights a week. Monday and Wednesday nights provide educational topics on substance abuse followed by a primary recovery group. Friday night is a goals-focused group followed by a primary recovery group.

WWAS - Harm Reduction. Call 202-939-7656.
This group is an alternative approach to substance abuse disorders. The harm reduction program is appropriate for those who want to reduce or eliminate substance abuse or harm associated with substance abuse. This group operates in a 12-week cycle and is open and on-going.

WWAS - Driving With Care. Call 202-939-7656.
This nationally recognized DUI Course has been tailored to work with people who have busy schedules. Individualized services are provided by a Licensed Professional Counselor who is also a registered Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) with the Department of Transportation. The main goal of this program is to help the offender prevent future episodes of driving while impaired by alcohol or other drugs- to prevent recidivism. We work towards this goal by focusing on the cognitive and behavioral change process, which will lead to self awareness, self-control and positive outcomes.
