Activities Coordinator – Max Robinson Center (Union)
The Activities Coordinator plans, implements and manages all activities for day treatment clients, coordinating complementary therapies and serving triply diagnosed clients as part of a multidisciplinary team. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of mental health, addictions and HIV/AIDS related issues, be skilled in providing treatment via group facilitation and organized group outings and possess the creativity to actively engage clients. Must have experience organizing activities in a therapeutic setting; BSW or Recreational Therapist strongly preferred.
Application Developer/Specialist – Administration (Non-Union)
The Application Developer provides support to Whitman-Walker Clinic staff using the eCW practice management and electronic health record application. He/she assists users with trouble shooting problems in the application, acts as liaison between WWC and eCW or DCPCA as needed, and works with the DCPCA in testing functionality of new versions before implementation. He/she is also responsible for training all Whitman-Walker staff on eCW as needed. Must have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years experience in a health care environment. Highly qualified individuals will have experience working with an electronic medical record application.
Client Services Representative – NOVA Medical Services (Union Optional)
Serve as the Clinic’s primary client service representative for a centralized call center and medical support department. Serve as primary liaison between clients and Clinic services. Obtain pre-authorization, insurance verification, basic benefits information and schedule clients for any and all Clinic services, and perform duties pertaining to registration to include the use of electronic health records, databases and/or alternative managed care programs. Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s preferred. Fluency in medical terminology required, and three to five years experience in patient access, billing, insurance or related medical center environment. Must have excellent computer and Spanish/English communication skills (both telephone and face to face).
Clinical Pharmacist – Pharmacy (Union)
Provide medication adherence counseling, evaluate resistance test results, evaluate current HIV treatment plans, conduct research in coordination with the Clinical Investigations department and staff the Whitman-Walker Clinic Pharmacy as needed. Must have excellent knowledge of pharmaceuticals, the basic sciences underlying pharmacy and the principles and practices involved in compounding and dispensing prescriptions. All candidates must be registered with licensure in the District of Columbia; PharmD with infectious disease training is preferred.
Community Health Educator (HIV) – Community Health (Union)
Under the general supervision of the Director of Community Health and direct supervision of the Program Manager (Health Education), the HIV Health Educator provides HIV education, conducts educational group sessions and outreach to targeted populations, performs program activities, provides counseling and testing and produces program reports. Requires Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, public health or related field, and experience and knowledge of health care issues in the MSM and IDU communities. Must have HIV testing training certificate from OraSure Technologies.
Community Health Educator (Minority AIDS Project) – Community Health (Union)
The Minority AIDS Project Health Educator disseminates HIV/AIDS & STD information to the public and engages in one-on-one counseling with clients. He/she delivers psycho-educational curricula, develops and disseminates materials and training programs for high-risk, of-color men who identify as heterosexual and/or men who have sex with men (MSM), and develops professional relationships with community organizations and peer groups. Bachelor’s degree is required (education, public health, psychology or related fields preferred), and two-five years experience in health education training.
Community Health Educator (Popular Opinion Leader Recruiter) – Community Health (Union)
Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the POL recruiter delivers health education and prevention outreach activities to the target population. This position also performs recruitment/outreach activities with men who have sex with men (MSM). He/she recruits popular opinion leaders from within the target population in order to allow for program continuation/maintenance. Must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social or behavioral sciences, with a minimum of one-year experience working in a human services area and recent experience working with MSM, youth, substance abusers, women and/or disenfranchised populations.
Community Health Educator (Social Networking) – Community Health (Union)
The Social Networking Health Educator disseminates HIV/AIDS & STD information to the public and engages in one-on-one counseling with clients. He/she also recruits and trains social network recruiters, ensuring retention and on-going training of network associates, bringing network associates into Clinic medical and/or behavioral care and prevention services. Must have Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in public health, sociology, psychology or a related field. Candidates should have strong oral and written communication skills, experience with HIV/AIDS and/or STD education and excellent research abilities.
Compliance Director – Administration (Non-Union)
Responsible for the strategic development, implementation and evaluation of compliance management programs within Whitman-Walker Clinic in alignment with WWC policies, procedures and practices. Acts as the internal expert on all compliance issues to ensure adherence to all organizational standards and policies while consulting with Whitman-Walker Clinic executive leadership on issues and opportunities to achieve sound business practices in the area of compliance. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Nursing, Public Health Administration, Law or other related field (or equivalent experience) required. Must have a minimum of five-seven years experience in a combination of increasingly responsible roles in compliance and/or coding and/or auditing.
Dental Hygienist (two positions) – Multiple Sites (Union)
Provides routine dental hygiene care to the dental patients at the clinic following a patient centered model. Responsible for the provision of appropriate and high quality dental hygiene services in a culturally sensitive manner. Provides efficient dental hygiene care, in accordance with a dentist and the rest of the medical care team, also in accordance with the strategic plan. Must be a graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program or dental school.
Deputy Director of Development – Administration (Non-Union)
Coordinates and oversees daily operations of all aspects of development, including recruitment, participation and retention. This includes special events, annual giving, major donors, corporate donors, public and private grants, planned giving and database management. Must have strong organizational and management skills, ability to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends) and a demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of development. Requires seven to 10 years of fundraising experience, preferably in a non-profit setting. Must have a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred.
Director of Pharmacy – Pharmacy (Non-Union)
Manage Clinic Pharmacy, which includes but is not limited to the following activities: dispensing medications to eligible clients; collecting fees and payments as appropriate; maintaining transactions in electronic medical record and other pharmacy management systems; educating clients on administration of drugs, potential side effects, how to mitigate side effects, potential allergic reactions, drug-food and drug-drug interactions; monitoring adherence to dispensed drugs; referring clients for medication adherence counseling as appropriate, educating providers on drug related issues and adherence; serving as a member of the health care team by educating providers on drugs, drug interactions and new medications, and providing aggregate data on pharmacy workload, revenue and expenses on a monthly basis. Must be registered pharmacist with licensure in the District of Columbia and at least five years appropriate pharmacy experience.
Director of Quality Improvement – Administration (Non-Union)
Supervises and coordinates activities of the Quality Improvement department, aiming to make improvements in clinical quality and operational infrastructure and to enhance standards and quality of service. Develops documentation and training associated with improvements. Participates in various site visits and in carrying out any resulting corrective actions. Master’s Degree in Health Administration or similar field and three to five years of experience in health care quality and process improvement required.
Executive Assistant – Administration (Non-Union)
Provides complex administrative support to the Director of Development, managing the efficient operation of the Development department and working on special projects as needed. Bachelor’s Degree required, and three to five years relevant administrative experience.
Grant Writer – Administration (Non-Union)
Under general direction, facilitates research, development, review and editing of departmental and/or institutional grant proposals; conducts basic research for potential funding sources and maintains databases; supports Clinic and administration in developing proposals. Must have Bachelor’s Degree and three-five years of grant/proposal writing experience, and knowledge of federal grant guidelines and highly developed writing and research skills.
Medical Assistant (PT) – ET Medical (Union)
Under supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or clinician, provides direct client services including drawing blood, giving injections, taking vital signs, completing documentation of activities in medical charts, and assisting RNs and physicians during patient visits and procedures. Must have a full range of Medical Assistant skills, including knowledge and ability to safely and accurately take vital signs, give injections and draw blood. Requires excellent customer service skills both face to face and via telephone and a knowledge of medical office/clinic procedures. All applicants must be graduates of an approved Medical Assistant program.
Nursing Care Coordinator – ET Medical (Union)
The Nursing Care Coordinator triages walk-in urgent care needs for new and existing clients, nursing appointments, medication refills, PAP tracking and special projects. These duties and functions shall conform to recognized nursing techniques, procedures and established nursing standards. Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with valid registration and licensure as an RN in the District of Columbia.
Outreach Coordinator – Development (Non-Union)
Establishes relationships with community, religious, school and non-profit based groups to increase their awareness surrounding HIV/AIDS, risky behavior avoidance, services of Whitman-Walker Clinic and ways they can participate in AIDS Walk. Attends community fairs, events, bars, clubs, neighborhood and organizations to promote such awareness and reasons to support the Clinic. Must have excellent oral and interpersonal skills, ability to work professionally with diverse people and personalities, ability to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends) and one to two years of outreach / community relations / fundraising experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.
Program Coordinator – Transgender Services (Non-Union)
The Transgender Coordinator will oversee all aspects of the transgender program outpatient drop-in service and provide seamless referrals and linkages both within and outside Whitman-Walker Clinic. Will liaison with other HIV/AIDS organizations and networks in the District of Columbia metro area and enhance cooperative relationships and foster sharing of resources on transgender programs. Must have bachelor’s degree in social work or public health-related field or equivalent experience. Requires strong written and verbal English communication skills, ability to think analytically and creatively to solve problems, and at least two years experience supervising staff.
Psychotherapist (two positions) – Behavioral Health (Union)
Provides mental health services to LGBT and HIV/AIDS infected and affected persons through individual, group, couple and family psychotherapy as well as those who are underserved and in need of mental health treatment. Candidates should have strong working knowledge of mental health, addiction, HIV/AIDS and LGBT issues, strong clinical skills, with proven ability to engage, assess, provide interventions and terminate appropriately with diverse populations, and the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships within the organization and with external providers. All applicants must have a Master’s of Social Work or related degree and current licensure in the District of Columbia (at LGSW or higher level). Candidates should also have at least two years clinical experience and one year experience working with HIV/AIDS populations.
Research Nurse – Clinical Investigations (Union)
The Research Nurse participates in the AIDS Research Program of Whitman-Walker Clinic. Delivers primary nursing care to participants in HIV/AIDS related clinical trial studies. Delivers nursing services based on the Synergy Model, which includes clinical judgment, caring practices, facilitator of learning, collaboration, systems thinking, advocacy/moral agency, response to diversity and clinical inquiry. Must be graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with RN in the District of Columbia.
