LATEX FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE?

If latex feels itchy or uncomfortable, it may be that you are allergic. Use polyurethane gloves, condoms or dams if you suspect you have a latex sensitivity.

BEWARE OF NONOXYNOL-9

If there’s no chance of getting pregnant, avoid spermicides such as Nonoxynol-9. They can cause microscopic irritations that make it easier for STIs to pass through the lining of the vagina or anus.

LUBE

A little water-based lube will enhance sensation. Check the chart on the next page for details.

TOYS

Take care of those toys! To prevent infection, use a condom or other barrier on your sex toys and keep your dildos, vibrators, buttplugs, harnesses, crops, whips, vegetables and all other props and toys as clean as possible. Different materials such as silicone, cyberskin, leather and rubber have different care instructions, but all toys should be washed in warm, soapy water and allowed to thoroughly dry before being put away. Vibrators that are not waterproof should be wiped clean with a damp cloth, not immersed in water. For more information on sex toys and their care, see our resources page.

DAMS

If you don’t have Saran wrap or a dam, you can make a barrier out of a condom or glove.
